New Student Orientation- Message from Dr. Muckleroy

August 13, 2020

Please be reminded about the upcoming “Middle College-New Student Orientation.”  MC-New Student Orientation will occur at Austin Peay in the Marks Building, Room 140.  This will be a time for students new to Middle College to learn more about Middle College student expectations, as well as to be introduced to APSU’s campus.  The students will sign up for their APSU student ID cards and learn other pertinent facts concerning the college campus, as well as go on a comprehensive tour before college classes begin on August 24.  We will break our student groups into smaller groups to allow for a more personalized orientation.

Additionally, due to APSU’s safety guidelines, we ask that parents drop and pick up their student in the Marks’ Building Parking Lot in a timely manner. There will be a parent meeting scheduled at a later time.  If students drive, they should park in the Student Parking Lot in front of Burt Elementary School right beside the APSU Football Stadium.

Please see the schedule below to find your student’s orientation times.

Tuesday, August 18 – 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM         Students with last names beginning A through G

Tuesday, August 18 – 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM         Students with last names beginning H through L

Thursday, August 20 – 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM       Students with last names beginning M through Ra

Thursday, August 20 – 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM        Students with last names beginning Re through Z

This orientation is for students NEW to MC only.  We will have an orientation for returning seniors during the first sessions of Senior Seminar once high school classes begin.

Please remember that EVERYONE must wear a mask and practice physical distancing while on Austin Peay’s campus.  Additionally, if a student is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, has tested positive on a COVID-19 test and hasn’t completed the required quarantine, or has had a COVID-19 test and is awaiting results, please do NOT attend the orientation.  Also, if the student has been in close contact with anyone in the above categories, please do NOT attend the orientation.  Simply email me with the information, and I will ensure that the student receives the orientation details at a later time.  Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

As always, please feel free to email Dr. Muckleroy with any questions.  Have a good evening!
